Tadalafil is a long-acting oral medication used to support erectile function and enhance sexual performance. Unlike short-acting ED medications, it provides up to 36 hours of effect, allowing for greater flexibility and spontaneity. It may also support urinary symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Tadalafil (commonly known by the brand name Cialis®) is a selective PDE5 inhibitor that increases blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation by supporting nitric oxide pathways. It’s prescribed for erectile dysfunction and, in lower daily doses, for urinary issues from enlarged prostate. With a half-life of around 17.5 hours, it offers longer-lasting effects compared to other ED medications, allowing more freedom around timing and intimacy. Tadalafil is effective for many men, including those dealing with performance anxiety or mild urinary symptoms.

Men who struggle to initiate or maintain erections may benefit from tadalafil’s ability to support nitric oxide pathways and increase blood flow during sexual stimulation.
Tadalafil helps men maintain stronger erections throughout sexual activity, especially when loss of firmness occurs during intimacy.
By providing a reliable physical response, tadalafil can help reduce anxiety about sexual performance, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
At low daily doses, tadalafil may improve urinary symptoms such as frequent urination or weak stream in men with BPH, offering dual benefits.
Some men without diagnosed ED may use tadalafil occasionally to improve confidence and experience during intimate moments, especially when fatigue or stress are factors.
Tadalafil inhibits the PDE5 enzyme, which helps relax smooth muscle in the blood vessels of the penis during sexual arousal. This allows for improved blood flow and firmer erections. It also helps reduce the breakdown of cGMP, a chemical that supports vascular dilation and sustained erection during stimulation.
